i am an olde, white guy.
i have benefited from knowing many Black Men and Women,
even transgender and gay people.
Christmastime is a time for unity and peace and charity.
If people will only pay attention to the Spirit of Christmas.
Jesus Christ was dark skinned and nearky Black.
Yet, on Church Crosses throughout America
He is pale and white.
You can see Jesus in the face of those that many people
feel might be terrorists...the dark-skinned among us.
This is just a fact. History and culture bear out this fact.
This Christmas,
i celebrate in my heart a friendship i gained almost ten years ago
with a remarkable, Black man,
This man has helped me turn my life around.
He found me in a fucked up, mentally ill state of mind.
He spent years sitting with me and listening to me Bitch about
my life, the unfairness of the world, and my lonliness.
He gave to me from his generous heart.
He found me in my mind's sicknessĀ
and healed me with his patience and kindness.
i am fortunate that he is still in my life to this day.
There have been two other significant Black Men in my life.
There are many details i could share about both of them.
The most important of the two is Gary,
my boyhood Friend who i shared my love of Comic Books with.
Gary and i more than Loved Comic Books.
We pursued the work together of creating a Comic Book story.
i, the writer.
Gary, the very talented and creative artist.
All the concepts we worked out together.
Somewhere, sometime ago, that story was published in a
magazine by Marvel Comics. The memory of the location is
long lost to the years.
i hope, before my time expires, i might find that Story.
i can argue pro-Black forever.
But there are multitudes of Americans who will forever be ignorant.
This makes me weep.
i can only hope that the living God will open the eyes
of the blind and the hearts of the foolish, prejudiced, and unaware.
This is Christmastime. Look at the Gifts around You.
Those Gifts are the lives of people You most likely ignore and forget.
#BlackLivesMatter today and always.
~from a white Soul Brother to all those whose skin is different.
It is only a thin layer of flesh that we let seperate us.
Why is that?
